Social Media Policy

 

Colorado Rangers social media posts/comments policy:

 

 

Posts/comments on a department’s (CLER) sanctioned social media web site   containing any of the following inappropriate forms of content shall not be permitted and are subject to removal by the PIO or his/her designee:

 

a.   Posts/comments not related to the original topic, including random or unintelligible comments

b.   Posts that are not factual or accurate

c.    Posts that do not promote civil discussion

d.   Profane, obscene, or pornographic content and/or language

e.   Content that could compromise an ongoing investigation

f.     Content related to training or other duty events not published first by CLER

g.   Any personal identifying information of a person not published first by CLER

h.   Defamatory or personal attacks

i.     Threats to any person or organization

j.     Posts/comments in support of, or in opposition to, any political campaigns or ballot measure

k.    Solicitation of commerce, including but not limited to advertising of any business or product for sale

l.     Conduct in violation of any federal, state, or local laws

m. Encouragement of illegal activity

n.   Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems; or

o.   Content that violates a legal ownership interest, such as a copyright or trademark, of any party
